Vice-Chancellor is the full-time academic chief and the administrative chief executive officer of the University. The Registrar performs his duties by the direct controlling of Vice-Chancellor.
Registrar is the chief of Registrar's office. The post of Registrar is a created post by the University Act. Registrar is the residential officer of the University and he performs the following jobs according to the University Act:
Member-Secretary of the Syndicate and the Academic Council.
Preserves all records, documents and general stamp seal of the University including all secret letters/documents offered by VC to his preservation.
Preserves the Register of the Registered Graduates according to the rules.
Custodian of the all properties of the University whatever offered by the Syndicate.
Any duties directed by the VC and fixed by the Act and rules of the University in time to time.
Maintains coordination with the Deans of the faculties about their planning, routines/schedules etc.
Delivering and receiving of all official letters of the University on behalf of the University.
Signing on all official contact letters except monetary/finance related letters on behalf of the University.
Performs duty as a member secretary of the admission committee.
Performs all procedures of the recruitment of teachers, officers and (office) staffs.
Performs duties as a member in ex-officio in the committees like 'Finance committee'; 'Planning & development committee'; 'Trustee Board'; 'Tender evaluation committee'; 'Staff appointment committee' etc.
Beside these there are some posts under the process of new appointment.
Brief description of the tasks performed by the Registrar's office:
* Administrative (General/Personnel/Estate & Legal):
Registrar's office is to perform the following activities -
Appointment of necessary manpower (Teachers/Officers/ Staffs) according to the organogram;
Performing activities such as posting, Suspension/ Cancellation etc.;
Activities related to discipline;
Issuing NOC for passport/other tasks;
Activities relating to foreign tour and pension;
Issuing experience certificate;
Activities relating to resigning;
Activities relating to time-scale/selection grade/up-gradation of posts etc.;
Activities relating to teachers' higher education, Selection of representative for meeting/seminar/training, Recreation leave/earned leave/medical leave/maternity leave, E/B cross, Police Verification, Selection of nominee etc.;
Performing of all activities relating to the communication with the Institutes like University Grant Commission/Ministry/Others Universities etc.,
Selection of members for various committees;
Performing all activities relating to estate and legal;
All activities relating to making various Rules and Regulations and Implementation;
Many others activities are also to perform in time to time according to the direction of the authority beside these above mentioned activities.
Activities of Selection of Agenda of the meeting, to call a meeting for Syndicate, Academic Council and different issues. Implementation of the decisions has been taken in the meeting etc.
All activities relating to the security-system of the University.
* Future Planning of the Registrar's Office:
Transformation of this Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University into a University of International standard by making all activities of the Registrar office, Computerized and data-based in the one-stop service through the digital system to perform all office activities as soon as possible.
