The directorate of research and extension was established at the time of Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University was established in 2006. Since 2006 there are 13 research projects of relevant field to animal health and production is ongoing. The purpose of research and extension directorate is to support for the enhancement of knowledge and higher studies.

There is great shortage of animal protein in Bangladesh. This shortage of animal protein contributes to the low nutritional status of the Bangladeshi people. The shortage of animal protein could be reliving through the increases of the production of milk, meat, eggs and fishes. In addition, different types of processed and preserved food can enhance food security of Bangladesh. However it requires efficient planning of the whole industry. To doing this we need to identify the possible shortcomings and the solutions and disseminates this knowledge in home and abroad. For this we need to undertake most appropriate and time demanded work. So, our challenge is to give an adaptive and need based research on livestock, poultry and fishes production and diseases and disseminates the outcomes.

I always ready to take challenges for improving our work. I would like to say   you join with us for work together. The faculties, the students and scientists get together and continue to work for achieve the goal.
