| Current Status of PRTC Implementation March 2009 | |

Activity 1: PRTC board meeting (1st meeting) was held on 9th of February, 2009. |
|
Activity 2: Refurbishing and furnishing work of PRTC building has been completed. A full furnished dormitory for accommodation of trainees is in use for the trainees. Furnishing of Post mortem room is in progress. Computer with accessories is in the process of installation in the PRTC building. |

Activity 3: Manpower recruitment process for PRTC is continuing. The recruitment process has been finalized which is waiting for the approval “Syndicate” |

Activity 4: Procurement of books and Journals for PRTC is under process. Tender notice has been floated. Action has been taken for installation of telephone and fax line for PRTC. |

Activity 5: Action for “Target group training” is under process. An agreement has been signed between CARE Bangladesh (Chittagong region) and PRTC to train their 44 hard core poor farmers on Advanced Poultry Rearing and Management. The training program has been scheduled to be held by April 7 (1st batch), and April 22 (2nd batch). Different other NGOs like, Char Livelihood Project (CLP); Action Aid; RFLDC and different poultry entrepreneurs have been approached for sending trainees. |

Activity 6: Consultancy support for curriculum development: Local and foreign consultants have been approached. |

Activity 8: High level training in India for 4 faculty members of CVASU is under process. A total of 91 intern vets of CVASU has also bee planned to be sent to India along with the faculty members. The matter is waiting for the EOD approval. The month-long training program has been scheduled to be held from May 1, 2009. |

Activity 9: International Conference was held during 17-19 March, 2009. The theme of the conference was “Food Security and food Safety: Towards A One World, One Health Approach”. The three day-long conference was attended by about 300 participants from home and abroad. A total of 40 papers on food safety and food security including the effects of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (H5N1) virus infection on food security and safety along with its zoonoses aspects were presented and discussed in the conference. |
